The traces of her background as a set designer in Film and Television are visible in Bo Magnus’ (born 1959) recent works. Collage is her technique, layers of transparent paint that stands out with a complexity of scripted actions in the face of the material's own will. 'times are COMING’ is the title of Magnus' forthcoming presentation in CS55 . One of these works is accepted at the SPRING exhibition at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen in April (2014).
There is a consistent line from Magnus' debut at the Autumn Exhibition in 2008, into her series of exhibitions in 2013/14. She works out of a precise contemporary look and is concerned about how we as individuals and as society, build our archives through experience, expression and systematic knowledge. As the material she uses acrylic mixed pigments, and put this into context, for example, shop racks, as in her latest work. Bo Magnus' issues emerge as renegotiations of inherited structures, feminism, language, mercantile and political systems. Magnus completed her Master of Fine Arts at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London in 2009. The next year she was featured guest artist at the Florence Trust(London). She has exhibited in England, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland. In December, she was invited as part of the artist group inEpic to exhibit in galleriXX1 in Warsaw. Parallel to her artistic practice, she teaches at the School of Culture and runs her project 'HUNTING THE SHADOW'.
